Karesansui Modern

The stone and gravel gardens often associated with Zen temples are called karesansui in Japanese. This word dates back to the earliest treatise on Japanese garden design, the Sakuteiki, written in the 11th century.
This style of garden offers many opportunities for exploration and innovation, as in this case where a custom-fabricated corten steel screen provides privacy, while the boulders evoke the feeling of mountains.
