The Infinite

Capturing the infinite in a drop of water:
Nature, the infinite, has no limit.
Therefore it cannot be made larger,
nor can it be made smaller.
Because the infinite cannot be made smaller,
It is equally and entirely contained in all things.

The character of nature is unlimited; therefore efforts to miniaturize or condense this character will only destroy its essence.

A raindrop and an ocean wave are equally endowed with natural beauty; a blade of grass and a great oak are equally living- efforts to make raindrops the size of waves, or oaks the size of grasses destroy the beauty of the original by destroying their essential character.

In gardening it is important to understand this, and to use an oak as an oak, and a blade of grass as a blade of grass. When we do this, the oak and the grass can equally capture the beauty of nature, and open a window to the infinite.
